Former Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit campaigner All The Weapons scored his first win on the East Coast since capturing Prince Edward Island's 2009 Gold Cup & Saucer on Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs.
Trained, driven and co-owned by Katie Miller, All The Weapons won the top pacing class at the half-mile track in 1:58.1. With the field lining up in post position order off the gate, the veteran pacer settled into fifth before advancing first over and wearing down Sir Dutch, who had carved out fractions of :31.1, 1:00 and 1:29.1. All The Weapons used a :29-second final frame to put himself one and a half lengths ahead of the tempo-setter at the wire in the $1,000 Winners Over Pace. Lils Destiny rallied wide from the back of the pack to come on for third.
All The Weapons paid $10.40 to win as the 4-1 third choice. The victory was his first in four Nova Scotia starts and 26th lifetime, and pushed his bankroll to $306,151. Jonah Moase of Cornwall, P.E.I. shares ownership of the Towners Big Guy gelding.
Fresh off a victory in his season's debut in the Atlantic Sires Stakes on May 27, Junebugs Baby turned in a 1:56.3 track record performance for three-year-old pacing colts in his conditioning assignment. The time of the mile was also a new lifetime mark for the Western Paradise-Carols June Bug colt, who won the Atlantic Breeders Crown Consolation and finished third in the Maritime Breeders Futurity Final at the end of a short freshman campaign for Fraser Turnbull and co-owner John Turnbull Jr. of Glace Bay, N.S.
Junebugs Baby lowered Force Ore Finesse's colt record by two-fifths of a second. Gelding Allbentouttashape currently holds the 1:55.1 mark for three-year-old male pacers.
