Brother John Best At Northside

For the first time in 2019, a horse has been able to capture two editions of the top class pacing event at Northside Downs.

That pacer is Brother John, who made every call a winning one in the $1,400 Winners Over Pace on Saturday, June 8.

With John Willie Beaton at the lines, Brother John made his usual appearance on the lead early and took the field of seven to the backstretch before reeling off a :29 opening quarter. Beaton got a decent breather for Brother John through the middle of the mile with a :59.3 half and 1:29.3 third station. That relaxed tempo was to the pacesetter's advantage as Brother John repelled a late challenge from Blue Line (Randy Getto) through a :30.3 final quarter to hit the wire a length to the good in 2:00.1. Dreamfair Van Dam (Gerard Kennedy) and Accelerator (Greg Sparling) completed the triactor.

Trained by Lee Collins, Brother John (Stonebridge Regal - Pine Barrens) picked up his third win of the year in five starts for Nova Scotians Randy & Bradley Getto, Susan Macsween and Wayne Hardy. The win was his 39th lifetime and bumped his earnings over the $88,000 mark.
