On Tuesday afternoon, Royal Heart paced the second fastest mile in the history of Monticello Raceway.
The five-year-old gelding by Royal Art cut fractions of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:24.3 en route to the new track record of 1:51.4 for aged pacing geldings. That mile erased the previous mark of 1:52 held by Buckeye One.
Bruce Aldrich Jr. drove the Jose Godinez trainee for owners Blindswitch Racing Stable and Dolne Farm Services LLC. Royal Heart took his lifetime mark of 1:50h last year at Saratoga.
