American Pride sat snugly behind the dueling leaders, then blew by them in the stretch to capture Monday’s $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows

After Brett Miller guided American Pride to the front from post eight, she settled in the pocket behind Caviar Forthe Lady. When the odd-on favourite Rose Run Keepsake engaged Caviar Forthe Lady for the lead down the backside, American Pride saved ground and energy while staying close.

In the lane, American Pride went wide to score in 1:55.1, matching her career best. Rose Run Keepsake finished second, while Caviar Forthe Lady settled for show.
