The fastest pacers in Eastern Canada will line up for a pair of $9,000 Cecil Ladner Memorial Invitational divisions, presented by Ladner Source for Sports, Saturday (June 7) evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 15-dash Saturday presentation kicks off at 6 p.m., with a much-anticipated rematch between Twin B Tuffenuff and Merigo Magic in their Ladner division in race 14.
Twin B Tuffenuff is installed as the 5-2 morning line choice from post six for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson. The Pat Morris owned stallion was a second-place finisher last time out as the betting favourite as Merigo Magic and trainer-driver Adam Merner gunned them down in the stretch. Merigo Magic has post five this week.
Bee Two Bee (To be driven by Jason Hughes) has post three after winning his P.E.I. seasonal debut on May 31 from the Ashley Gamester barn.
Tony Too Tall (Ryan Desroche) has rail control for trainer Trevor Hicken while former three-year-old sensation Jackies Boy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) makes his four-year-old debut from post two from the Myles Heffernan Jr., stable.
High Voltage Deo (Corey MacPherson) was a fast closing third in Preferred action last week and has post four for trainer Brendan Curran.
Completing the field is Bounty Hunter with post seven for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault.
The Post Time Picks see the division going to post three starter Bee Two Bee.
“Bee Two Bee He wired the field in his first start back at Red Shores in 1:55.4 on a track with a one second variant. It was an incredible effort considering he shipped home from Ontario and had 35 days off before the victory, so I'm putting him on top tonight.”
The other Ladner division carries a $9,000 purse in race 12 as Saulsbrook Ian returns to P.E.I., with post two in the bout with MacPherson back in the driver’s seat of the five-year-old son of Betterthancheddar for owner Red Oak Stables of Charlottetown. Jamie Smith now conditions the winner of 18-races, who last competed at Woodbine Mohawk Park, finishing fourth while race timed in 1:51.2.
Island Beach Boy is from post one for trainer-driver Merner. The front running son of Somebeachsomewhere was a recent qualifying winner in 1:53.1 at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Drawing post three is 2024 Premier’s Cup winner Roll Em (Marc Campbell) from the Landon Campbell barn.
Rollwithhottytoddy (Myles Heffernan Sr.), the runner-up in the 2024 Governor’s Plate final, has post four in his Ladner division from the Trevor Hicken stable.
Free-legged pacer Wind Blown (Paul Langille) has post five for trainer Phil Sizer while Blood Money (Barrieau) holds down post six for conditioner Matheson.
The Post Time Picks go with Roll Em.
“Roll Em That was a solid effort from post seven with a quick closing quarter of :27.4 in his first start off the bench. He's the reigning Premier's Cup champion, so he deserves top billing in this race.”
