Garrett Rooney was very photogenic on Sunday (June 5) at Dresden Raceway as he made six trips to the winner's circle.
Fans were treated to a Rooney daily double as he scored with Northern Belle in the first race in 1:59.2 and then coming right back to win the second dash with The Loan Ranger in 1:56.4.
Races six through nine all belonged to Dresden's leading teamster as he guided Brother Aidan (1:58.3), Littleannieoakley (2:01), All The Cheddar (2:00.3) and Insincerity (1:59.3) to victory.
Rooney is the leading dash driver at Dresden Raceway with 10 victories so far this year.
The Mark Austin Pacing Series got interesting on Sunday as two new winners threw their hats into the ring for next week's final.
All The Cheddar made his first start count as he out stepped Doc Houston to the wire in the first division of young pacers. The three-year-old Betterthancheddar colt stepped off a :29.3 last quarter for a 1-1/2-length win for Rooney in 2:00.3. All The Cheddar is owned and trained by Kathryn Cochrane while Steve Besterd is a co-owner.
Egremont Ollie took top prize in the second Austin Pacing Series division as he took advantage of Guy Smiley's early miscue and placing. As they were heading into the first turn, Guy Smiley jumped after coming close to a pylon and caused interference and was placed seventh after winning the race. Egremont Ollie finished second but was place first.
The four-year-old Thinking Out Loud horse is owned by Brad Wilson and trained by Ian Hyatt.
The Austin Pacing Series final is slated for next week with $12,500 added.
Sunday's handle was $42,095.
