Today, at the annual general meeting of the Woodbine Entertainment Group, Dr. J. Glen Brown retired from the WEG board of directors after 24 years
of service.
Dr. Brown was chairman of the standardbred racing committee, and over the course of his career served the horse racing industry admirably in many capacities.
Douglas Murphy was subsequently elected to the company's board of directors.
Founder and manager of Hat Trick Stable, Murphy is the president of Nelvana Limited, a Corus Entertainment Inc. company. He has many years of experience in the entertainment industry, having served in senior positions with the Walt Disney Company in North America and abroad. These positions included senior vice president and general manager for the Disney Store, North America and senior vice president, business development, theme parks and resorts.
Murphy holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
He brings to the WEG Board expertise in customer service, marketing, branding, retail, product development and distribution.
Murphy, 46, lives in Toronto with his wife Alexa and their children.
