
Emma Town Bud scored a hat trick in the featured class at Rideau Carleton Raceway after he won his third straight $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Wednesday, June 4.
Pierre Bovay left alerty from the gate with his student and Emma Town Bud secured a spot in fourth as Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) dictated the mile on the lead. After the :27.3 opening panel, Emma Town Bud made the journey on the engine first-over, sitting fourth at the :58.3 half and moving into third at the 1:26.4 three-quarters. Continuing on the move, Emma Town Bud moved ahead of Raising Rusty in the final turn and he kept on going to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:56.1. Rose Run Why Not (Pascal Berube) took second and Impressive Dude (Guy Gagnon) completed the ticket for show.
Emma Town Bud is an eight-year-old gelded son of Big Stick Lindy and the Credit Winner mare Centerfold Lady, trained by Pierre Bovay for Nicole Bovay Gurtner of Applehill, Ont. In 11 starts this year, he has banked $40,946 to go along with a record of 5-3-3. He has 26 career wins and $389,007 banked in 94 lifetime starts. Emma Town Bud paid $3.50 to win.
