It’s a good thing that trotting mare Annie P V can’t read the tote board because she would have felt pretty sad to find out that no one made a wager on her to win Tuesday night at Hippodrome 3R in Race 7.
Although, someone did bet $2 on Annie P V to Place. The six-year-old daughter of Authentique rewarded her backer with a $132.90 return on their investment. There was no Show wagering on the race.
Annie P V finished second by six and one-half lengths behind race winner, Erge Baboche. If Annie P V would have won, and if someone would have made a $2 Win bet on her, she would have paid $675 to Win.
The crowd was disappointed when Quebec-sired Maximuscle was announced as a ‘sick’ scratch from the race program. Many were hoping for last season’s two-year-old Quebec sires stakes champion to make his debut. Maximuscle won five of his seven starts last year and banked $47,724 in purse earnings.
Thanks to Felix BG winning the eighth race on the program and paying $79.80 to Win, the average win price per horse this meet rose again at Hippodrome 3R to $12.88.
Coming up this Sunday afternoon at the Hippodrome 3R will be the $35,000 finals of the Quebec-bred Series for four and five-year-old trotters and pacers. There will be four finals on the program, making it the richest race card so far this early season at Hippodrome 3R.
