ORC Rules On OHHA Appeal

Published: June 4, 2012 05:49 pm EDT

An Ontario Racing Commission panel has released its ruling in regard to the situation between the ORC and the Ontario Harness Horse Association surrounding a $100,000 charge to OHHA by the ORC for compensation of costs incurred by the commission.

The costs in question were incurred because of an ORC investigation/inquiry which led to activities surrounding the auditing of OHHA, which was the purse account manager in 2004.

The ORC panel allowed the OHHA appeal, stating that the terms for the 2005 PAM licence were not consented to, and this failure to accept by OHHA therefore ended the claim by the ORC for the charge of $100,000 for costs for the application renewal (the panel also ruled that the determinative factor was that OHHA did not give its consent to the terms as proposed).
