Michael Del Zotto, star defenseman for the New York Rangers, will be the special celebrity drawmaster for this year’s $1.5-million Pepsi North America Cup.

Del Zotto will be on hand to assist with the noon event, set for Tuesday, June 12, at Mohawk Racetrack.

The NA Cup will take place Saturday, June 16 at the Campbellville, Ont. track.

A native of Stouffville, Del Zotto began his junior hockey career with the Oshawa Generals in 1996, before being drafted in the first round, 20th overall by the New York Rangers.

Born in 1990, he became the youngest player in Rangers history to play on opening night at age 19.

This past season, Del Zotto posted 10 goals and 31 assists in 77 games for the Eastern Conference Champion Rangers.

The Pepsi North America Cup is the richest race for pacers in North America.
