Warraweeforlaura Large In Grand River Preferred

Warraweeforlaura teamed up with driver Garrett Rooney to notch his first win of the season in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace, which highlighted the 10-race Grand River Raceway card on Monday, June 30.

Leaving from the rail as the 5-2 second choice, Rooney got away third with Warraweeforlaura as Ideal Perception (Travis Henry) took the field of seven to the quarter in :26.4. Ideal Perception marched to the half in :56 when Warraweeforlaura tipped from third, powering to the leader's wheel at three-quarters in 1:23.4.

Warraweeforluara inched ever closer on the final turn before pulling even with Ideal Perception at the top of the lane. Warraweeforlaura wore down the favourite from there, powering clear by 1-3/4 lengths on the wire in 1:52.1. Blockbuster Trade (J Harris) utilized a second-over trip to rally past Ideal Perception for second in deep stretch. 

The victory was the first in nine outings this season for Warraweeforlaura and the fifth of his career. The four-year-old gelded son of All Bets Off-Allegory is trained and co-owned by Frank Baker in addition to Tyler Borth and William Stevenson. He now sports a career bankroll of $108,284.
