Tioga and Vernon Downs will host concerts by the Marshall Tucker Band this Independence Day weekend, with all receipts from both shows matched dollar for dollar by Jeff Gural and donated to local charities.
Vernon Downs gets the party started with a show tonight (Thursday, June 30) beginning at 8 p.m. Over the past decade, Vernon Downs has donated more than $670,000 to the Food Bank of Central New York, the beneficiary of tonight's event.
The Marshall Tucker Band will then perform at Tioga on Friday as they bring their 50th anniversary tour to the Southern Tier. One hundred per cent of ticket purchases will go to the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group with Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural matching every ticket sale with a donation of his own.
Both tracks are racing live on the July 4 holiday; Vernon has a 12:15 p.m. matinee card and Tioga a 6:20 p.m. program with fireworks after the races.
