Distaffers Extend Streaks At Dresden

Two streaks remain intact at Dresden Raceway, as Squirt made it four in a row at the local oval for driver Nick Steward on Sunday afternoon (June 30) and Just Like Buttah coasted to a natural hat trick.

The eight-year-old Mister Big mare went right to the front cutting fractions of 28.4, 59.3 and 1:29.2 before completing the mile in 1:59.3. Squirt is owned by Barb Dinning of McGregor and trained by Howard Dinning.

Just Like Buttah rolled to her third straight victory at Dresden Raceway with a wire-to-wire performance for driver Tyler Borth. The Gord McDonnell student is owned by Doug Good of Chatham and set fractions of 29.4, 1:01 and 1:31.2 en route to a 2:01.2 win.

Borth scored three wins on the day to bring his win total to 17 on the year, while Marc St. Louis also visited the winner’s circle three times to bring his total to nine.

Racing action continues Monday (July 1), as Dresden Raceway celebrates Canada Day with four divisions of Ontario Sires Stakes three-year-old trotting fillies and two divisions of the Mark Austin Pacing Series. Post time is 1:30 p.m. for a day that will feature Canada Day giveaways and free cupcakes.
