Guy Gagnon was the leading driver at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, edging out Brad Forward for star of the card honours with five wins on the night.
Gagnon earned his first win in the second race with trotter Justalittlefaster ($13.10) for trainer Eric Valiquette. He also scored back-to-back victories mid-card with Chelsea Knapp's pacing mare Jk Cinderella ($5.40) in the fifth and Michele Raymond's pacer Miramontman ($12.90) in the sixth. Gagnon's own trainee One False Move ($6.40) held on to win the eighth pacing event by a neck and pacer Minnesota Hanover ($9.60), trained by Serge Lafleur, prevailed by a quarter-length in the 12th race finale to complete his five-bagger.
Gagnon, who ranks among Rideau's top five drivers this year, pushed his 2013 win total to 57. Lifetime, he has won 4,130 races and is nearing the $20 million mark in purse earnings.
Forward wasn't far behind Gagnon, scoring four wins on the program.
