Hanover Raceway is looking forward to its first Wednesday night video-streamed simulcast on Canada Day

, Wednesday, July 1. Hanover started streaming its product May 1 and HPI customers in most areas of Ontario can wager on the product from home via HPI accounts.

Hanover Raceway general manager Gord Dougan has said that after some early glitches from the video stream supply company, he is finally satisfied with the picture and sound quality of the product.

Dougan has stated via Hanover release that the video streaming of the track's product has added as much as $3,000 a night, or up to a 15 per cent increase, in the track's nightly handle. Although it’s not expected to be a money making boon for the track, Dougan says he started the process in order to help reverse the trend of shrinking live pools.

"If we can get our handle consistently in the low to mid 20,000 dollar range, then it becomes more attractive for our customers," Dougan said.

Dougan hopes that the lack of Wednesday harness competition will result in an increase in online wagering on Hanover’s Wednesday product.

Hanover starts its Wednesday night race’s on July 1 and continues every Wednesday and Saturday night in July and August with a 7:15 p.m. first race post time. The only exception is Saturday, August 15, when the racetrack is taken over by the 144th annual Hanover Fair.
