It's impressive to see an equine get out on the track in the morning and put in a bullet work. The site of a horse shaking off some rust and turning a few heads is always something to see. There was an eye-catching sprint over Keeneland this past weekend --- too bad it wasn't a horse that was doing it.
Video shot by Sarah Campion at Keeneland on Saturday (June 1) captured the scene of a young deer blazing through the homestretch.
The deer, whose age and pedigree are a mystery at this point, pranced spiritedly through the lane in front of jocks, horses and at least a couple of railbirds.
Chances are that nobody had a timer on the young deer, but it is for certain that the long-striding cervidae likes to chase horses, had a lot left in the tank and galloped out without urging.
