Tetrick Is In The Zone

Trace Tetrick earned five wins on Hoosier Park's Thursday, June 2 program. The 24-year-old reinsman has been consistently climbing the charts and his recent success has placed him in second on the list of leading drivers for 2011.

A native of Geff, Illinois, Tetrick began driving full time following his high school graduation in 2005. He spent his first full season at Hoosier Park in 2006 and grabbed the leading driver title during the 2008 season. In 2009, he won his 1,000th career win and earlier this season he notched win number 1,500. His dedication to his trade is evident and he continues to be a student of the sport.

“My main goal is to continue to be successful and competitive on a nightly basis,” said Tetrick. “There are some good drivers here and it’s going to be tougher as the purse money increases.”

Tetrick showed how tough he could be outside of the Indiana circuit this winter. He ventured to Windsor Raceway where he was in contention for the top spot on the driver standings until he departed for the Hoosier Park meet in mid-March. With 164 wins this calendar year through June 2, he is right on target to surpass his best yearly showing to date, which was 401 wins during the 2008 season.

Tetrick started off his five-win evening June 2 with a win behind Genesis Mercury in the first race. He was also a winner in the second race with Cole Heat followed by a win with Realiscape in the sixth race. Paco Labrook was a winner in the ninth race for Tetrick followed by Hillcrest Domingo in the 13th and final race of the night.

Tetrick now has 68 wins through the first 46 nights of racing. He trails leader Peter Wrenn by 16 wins. Wrenn is seeking his third straight title in 2011.
