All Spirit returned to her winning ways Friday night at Tioga Downs in the $16,500 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace
.
The five-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Spirit Of Ivy used her usual tactics to come from off the pace and catch a second over trip through a half in :56.2. As the field reached three-quarters, Pure Desire and Greg Merton were still in command in 1:24.3, but Marohn decided it was go time and tipped All Spirit three-high and, in seconds, circled the field.
Down the stretch, it wasn’t a matter of if, but by how many that was the only question left for All Spirit, who stopped the teletimer in 1:53, equaling her seasonal best.
It was the third win in eight starts for All Spirit, who is trained by Judy Lanpher for Larry Lanpher of Winter Park, Florida.
Leanback Coco and Phil Fluet hung on for second despite the first over trip, while Hello Great Mate and Lewayne Miller closed late for third.
