Dreamfair Zenfire has been playing tug of war with her stablemate over the past three starts and on Thursday evening (June 29) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, the Marc Campbell trainee won the battle in the $3,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace.

Campbell drove Dreamfair Zenfire from post five in the feature class of six pacers. Campbell eased into fifth off the car, continuing fifth through the quarter in :27.4 and half in :57.1. He pulled his right line on a first-over approach to the top, sitting second on the outside at the three-quarters in 1:25.4. Dreamfair Zenfire pushed to the top and was met by Campbell's second feature entry, Plain Jane, down the stretch. After a battle in the lane, Dreamfair Zenfire came out on top over last week's winner Plain Jane (Corey MacPherson) in 1:54.2. Acefortyfourdome (Jason Hughes) was third.

Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris, P.E.I. share ownership of the Sunfire Blue Chip mare, who paid $4.10 to win.

Mile Hill Willie (Gilles Barrieau) captured the $3,100 Open Trot class with a 1:58 victory over Jessiejesorjessica (David Dowling) and Incredible Two (Kenny Arsenault). Paul Morrison co-owns and trains the track record holding stallion for co-owner John Breau of Shediac Cape, N.B.

It was all systems go for Sugar Bowl as the mare remained undefeated in Atlantic Canada.

Jason Hughes was in the bike of his trainee in the Race 13 finale on Thursday evening as Sugar Bowl led at every call to win in 1:55.4 over You Aint Dolly (Adam Merner) and Better Be In Love (Dale Spence). Tommy Collings of Mount Stewart co-owns the Sweet Lou mare with Brian MacPhee as she extended her perfection to four straight in the $2,700 class.

Hughes also won with Windemeregotmuscle (2:06) for trainer Danny MacDonald and Summer Lovin (1:58.1) from his own barn.

The Melissa Rennie stable doubled up winning with Checkers Pride (Merner) in 1:59.4 and Woodmere Rollily (1:57) with both horses co-owned by Marsha Knox of Stanhope, P.E.I.
