Prospect Series competition shifted to Grand River Raceway on Wednesday (June 29) with three-year-old trotting fillies sparring in second-preliminary action taken by Jandals and Royaltys Dream in their respective divisions.
Jandals opened the program with a pocket-pulling victory in 2:01.1. Driver Scott Coulter settled the Muscle Mass filly behind tempo-setter La Bromontoise as he cruised uncontested through early fractions of :29.2 and 1:00.2. Sayonara Angel mounted a first-over challenge on the leader moving to three-quarters in 1:30.3 but promptly folded circling the final turn. Jandals remained the closest pursuer off the bend and surged from the slipstream to put a head in front by the beam and nab victory. Gala Halo, the odds-on choice, recovered from a break at the start to rally from last and take third with Opas Faith settling for fourth.
Susie Kerwood conditions Jandals for owner S&R Racing Stable Inc. She collected her second win from 15 starts and pushed her bankroll to $18,125 with the victory, and paid $17.70 to win.
Royaltys Dream followed with a coast-to-coast victory which foiled the other favourite in the early double. The Royalty For Life filly cleared command out of post six in rein to Anthony Haughan and pocketed 2-5 choice Say Something to a :28.4 first quarter. Crawling through a 1:01.3 half and to three-quarters in 1:32.3, Royaltys Dream had enough in reserve to spin for home and hold Say Something at bay by 1-1/2 lengths over the line while Miss Tory gave chase another four lengths behind in third and Molise settled for fourth.
Royaltys Dream, a now three-time winner from 10 starts and earner of $20,129, competes for owners and breeders John and Susan Clark. Meg Crone trains the $13.70 winner.
