Not even a sharp jump in class Monday evening could derail About A Boy in his quest to double up at Grand River Raceway.
With Colin Kelly at the controls, About A Boy powered to the lead from Post 1 in the $11,500 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap for horse and gelding pacers and never looked back.
He knifed his way through fractions of :28.2, :57.2 and 1:25.1 before kicking home in :28.3 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Freddy Bear in 1:53.2. Taking home the show dough in the nine-horse affair was Pro Beach.
Anita Ouellette trains the seven-year-old son of Dali-Beauty Delight for Luc Ouellette Incorporated and Paul Bernard. The gelding won for the second time this season and for the 19th time in his career. His earnings surpassed $150,000 with the win.
