Somemore Blue scored a decisive win in the sole $135,000 third-round contest of the Indiana Sire Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday, June 27 at Hoosier Park.
Accelerating out of post six, Somemore Blue swept to the front entering the first turn and completed the opening quarter in :26. Marcus Miller reined in the leader on the backstretch with Klorox Queen (Trace Tetrick), Treacherous Woman (Kyle Wilfong) and Whoomp (John De Long) lined up behind the filly to the half in :55.1.
She hit the gas to three-quarters, reaching that mark in 1:22.4 with Whoomp making a first-over move. Somemore Blue stepped it up another notch in the stretch to surge home with :26.1 speed and romp by 3-3/4 lengths in a career-best 1:49. Whoomp was second, followed by Treacherous Woman (Kyle Wilfong).
Somemore Blue, a daughter of Rockin Image-Misssomebeach Blue, is owned by Stepbystep Racing, Kenneth Duffy, Lava Java Stable and Never 2 Late Stable. The Erv Miller trainee is two-for-three in the INSS this season in addition to an overnight win in her seasonal debut. She is now 10-for-14 lifetime. The win price was $3.40.
