Scioto Cards Rare Invite

For years the only Invitational Pace raced at Scioto Downs Racino was on Super Night, to complement the championship Sire Stakes races. This Saturday, for the first time, the Invite is carded on a “normal” weekend evening card.

“We’ve always had a couple horses that could go in the Invite, but not enough to fill,” explained Scioto’s General Manager of Racing Stacy Cahill. “We were able to move some of our consistent Open horses up to the Invite to make a great race.”

The seven horse Invite will carry a $25,000 purse. Five of the seven horses carry morning line odds of less than 5-1.

“We strive to put together competitive races where many horses have a chance to win,” continued Cahill. “This should be a very good race on Saturday.”

Rockin Finish from the Virgil Morgan, Jr. stable is listed as the morning line favorite at 2-1. Dan Noble looks to steer the horse from post six to his third victory in as many starts - he last won the Open Handicap at Northfield in 1:53.2 and the Open II at Scioto the week before in 1:52.1.

The Invite is carded as the fifth race, the Ohio Lottery race of the night. Post time for the first race is 6:30 p.m.
