Justi P V swooped the field to win the $13,600 Thunder Trot final for claiming trotters at Sudbury Downs

Driver Mike MacNeill got away sixth with the eight-year-old Authentique P V mare in a :28 second quarter, then moved third over through a half in :58.4. MacNeill then put the gas pedal down as he tipped three wide in the 1:30.1 third quarter, then cleared to win by two lengths in 2:01 over Odee Tuff and Shawland Y Two K.
Justi P V is owned and trained by Chantell Robertson of Chelmsford, Ont. The win was his third in 20 outings this year and 28th of his career pushing his bankroll to $356,541.
In Preferred action, the front end ruled all night.
Deuces And Jacks (Paul MacLean) front ended the $11,000 Preferred Pace through splits of :28.2, :58.4, and 1:28.1 before drawing off by five lengths to win in 1:56. Thomson Seelster (Gerry Belanger) was second and Round About Fame (Justin Turcotte) was third.
Deuces and Jacks is owned by Paul MacLean, Chelmsford and Shaun McDonald, Wallenstein, Ont. The five-year-old Million Dollar Cam gelding notched his fourth win in 18 starts this season. The winner of nine races has banked nearly $300,000 over the course of his career.
In the $10,000 Preferred 2 Pace, Rush Rules saw fractions of :29.1, 1:00.3 and 1:29.4 before continuing his front end mission to win in 1:57.2 for driver Gerry Belanger over Firm Offer (Jeff Nowoselsky) and Sjs Nitelite (Paul Maclean).
Rush Rules, who scored his first win of the year in seven starts, is owned by Robert Truman of Harbour Springs, Michigan. The five-year-old Scooter Scotts gelding is a 12-time winner with close to $70,000 earned.
