It will be a busy weekend for the Atlantic Sires Stakes with multiple events scheduled in Nova Scotia at Truro Raceway and Northside Downs.
The three-year-old pacing colts will kick off the weekend's stakes action at Truro Raceway on Friday, June 28. As the second leg of the series for this set, two divisions of 'A' colts will go behind the gate in Races 2 and 6, each competing for a purse of $12,540.
Coming off victories in the opening leg of the Sires Stakes last weekend at Northside Downs, point leaders Merigo Magic (Adam Merner) and Tobins Chester (Gilles Barrieau) are the favourites in their respective races -- the former is undefeated in five seasonal starts for trainer Melissa Rennie and the latter is the defending Atlantic Breeders Crown champion campaigned this season by Ashley Gamester.
Two divisions of 'B' colts will be featured in Races 4 and 7.
First race post time for Friday's card at Truro is 6:30 p.m.
The three-year-old pacing fillies will make their last Atlantic Sires Stakes stop in Nova Scotia at Northside Downs on Saturday, June 29.
Defending Atlantic Breeders Crown champion and current point leader Zendayas Firstlady (Myles Heffernan) was a winner in both the Truro and Inverness Raceway opening legs and will be looking to continue her winning ways for trainer Stephen Quinn in the second of two $12,240 'A' divisions on Saturday, slated for Race 9.
The first 'A' division is slated for Race 2 and there will also be two full divisions of 'B' fillies going for $6,000 each in Races 5 and 7.
Post time for Saturday's first race at Northside is 1 p.m.
