Sent postward as the longest shot on the board, Lets Wait And See pulled off the upset as he prevailed in a three-across finish in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace featured at Georgian Downs on Sunday night (June 26).
Lets Wait And See closed inside off a ground-saving trip to edge out the popular pacesetter Thorn In Your Side and the pocket-pulling McKinney by a head in 1:52.1. He paid $25.80 to win as the 11-1 longshot.
Jason Ryan drove the five-year-old Shadow Play gelding for trainer Scott Friend and owner Gordon Hart of Odessa, Ont. Lets Wait And See was making his Georgian Downs debut and earned his third victory this year from 21 starts.
The $7,500 Preferred also ended in a close call with Scott West's Uf Bettors Hanover ($9.60) and driver Scott Young rallying off cover to win by a nose in 1:52.4 over race leaders Lyons Again and Joshua My Boy.
Two $6,000 first leg divisions of the Alliance Series for $12,000 claiming fillies and mares were also contested on Sunday night with the favourites, No Pelo Blue Chip ($3.40, Bob McClure) and Treasured Moments ($3.20, Travis Henry), each delivering winning efforts.
