D Gs Camme, last year’s Governor’s Plate and Premier’s Pace champion, won Saturday night's featured $2,400 Preferred Handicap event in 1:54 flat at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Gilles Barrieau was in the driver’s seat for trainer Jackie Matheson and the Charlottetown ownership group of Quentin and Hal Bevan, Tom Clark and Ron Matheson.

Barrieau sent favourite D Gs Camme to the point from post five and laid down stiff fractions of :27, :56.1 and 1:25.3 before cruising home in :28.2 to notch his first victory of 2015 in only his second start of the campaign. All Turain, who was on the move early in the mile, was second for Corey MacPherson while Cabo Pan Lucas (Vince Poulton) was third.

MacPherson had a big night at the track with four winners on the card. The young pilot is off to an impressive start this year as he teams up with D&D Lawncare & Landscaping to raise money for PEI Human Society in the annual Drive for Charity promotion. MacPherson’s victories came aboard Mob Rule for trainer Danny MacDonald, Pleasure Girls in the $1,850 Open Trot for owner Shelley Gass of Cornwall, P.E.I., followed by Torpedo Seelster to give Ron Gass a training double. The grand-slam came with Roscoes Child, owned by the Selkirk Stable of Belfast, P.E.I. Raymond White is the trainer.

In other action, Osprey Impact won her trot assignment for trainer/driver Paul Larrabee while Ramblinglily recovered after an early miscue in the $2,250 Fillies & Mares Open Pace to record back-to-back winning performances for driver Walter Cheverie and trainer Allan Jones. The time of the mile was 1:56.2.

Marc Campbell had a driving double on the 13 dash program.

The wager was $47,433.
