Trottin' Trevor Ritchie steered heavy favourite Celebrity Bombay to a narrow score in the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday.

The 3-5 bettors' choice cleared to command after the opening quarter and held on to win for the first time this year in a three-horse photo finish over the late-rallying Armbro Chronicle, driven by Stephen Byron, and pocket-sitter Perfect Vacation, in rein to Jason Brewer. The time of the mile was 1:58.3.

Celebrity Bombay, who had picked up cheques in his five prior starts this season on the WEG circuit, is owned by trainer Staffan Lind and Bender Sweden Inc. of Vero Beach, Florida. The four-year-old son of Yankee Glide earned his fifth career win and watched his bankroll climb to $116,502.
