P L Quinella won the featured $8,800 conditioned trot at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday (June 26) on a bottom to top climb throughout the mile.
Brett MacDonald piloted the second winner of the Matthew Dupuis stable from the rail. As the field left the gate, MacDonald retreated with P L Quinella to sixth, completing the field as the caboose. After the opening :28 quarter, MacDonald sent the gelding on an overland journey, solo as the lone trotter on the outside through the half in :58.4. P L Quinella achieved second from the outside at the three-quarters in 1:28.1. After the third timer, P L Quinella took off on his field, sprinting down the stretch to a 2-1/2 length score in 1:58.2. Royal Champane (Paul Mackenzie) finished second and Wolinak (Tyler Moore) saved show.
P L Quinella (Kadabra - P L Indyanaca) is owned by Dupuis for his second win of the year in 16 starts and fourth career tally from 42 starts. The four-year-old gelding went to the gate at 2-1 odds and returned $5.30 to win.
