After putting forth a forceful performance against the top group last week, Sly Eleanor N dominated her competition again to take the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace on Saturday (June 26) at Georgian Downs.
Driver J. R. Plante settled the eight-year-old Mcardle mare in third to a :27.2 opening quarter before circling to the lead past the stands first time. From there, Sly Eleanor N led to a :57.1 half and sped up the backside to three-quarters in 1:24.3 as So Frisky made a first-over move after the leader. Sly Eleanor N maintained her speed through the stretch to stop the clock in 1:53, finishing 2 3/4 lengths better than pocket-sitter Casimir Swamp Girl while So Frisky faded to third.
Owned by trainer Gary Lance with Brian Samis, Sly Eleanor N won her fourth race from 19 starts this season and her 18th from 86 overall, earning $243,605. She paid $2.90 to win.
Earlier on the card, Karoline Nielsen guided Nebraska Jack to victory in the first race of the 2021 RUS Season, crossing the line in a speedy 2:00.2.
The next RUS race is slated to held at Hiawatha Horse Horse Park on July 10.
