Stacey Currie has appeared in many winner's circle photos as a caretaker over the years but on Saturday (June 26) she picked up her win photo as a trainer.
The Guelph, Ont. resident had made just five lifetime starts as a trainer, with pacing mare Pickles On Top breaking through for Currie's milestone win in just her sixth start on Saturday at Hiawatha Horse Park.
Marc St. Louis, Jr. was at the controls for Currie and Pickles On Top in the sixth race at Hiawatha Horse Park, and Pickles On Top delivered as expected over her rivals in the $7,000 claiming event. Leaving from post three, Pickles On Top was on top at every call and the seven-year-old mare picked up her 12th career win in her first start for Currie in 1:58.1.
