It has been reported that MEC Pennsylvania Racing, operator of the Meadows, has filed for bankruptcy protection
.
According to an article by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the company, which has filed for Chapter 11 protection, has stated that it has lost millions on the racino even though the state of Pennsylvania approved VLTs.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has reported that bankruptcy papers say, "MEC Pennsylvania Racing continues to suffer from decreased revenues at the Meadows and certain off-track betting facilities because of a general decline in attendance and wagering at these facilities."
