There are three certainties in life – death, taxes and Guy Gagnon winning multiple races at Rideau Carleton Raceway on a nightly basis.
All jokes aside, Gagnon manufactured a three-win performance with horses from his own barn and he tacked on a catch-driving victory to bring his nightly win total to four on Thursday evening’s 10-race card.
Gagnon clicked with freshman pacer Flash Cube in Race 2 to get the ball rolling. He trains the son of Sportswriter-Fancy A Dream who was a handy – and popular – winner in 1:58.2 with a final quarter clocked in :27.3.
He came right back the very next race to win with stablemate SOS Justified in 1:54.4 before catch-driving the Mike Armstrong-trained Nectar to a 1:55 triumph in Race 4.
A front-stepping score in Race 7 with Unabating (1:58.2) gave Gagnon his third training win and his fourth driving triumph on the program.
Gagnon has put together a 29-for-83 (.449 UTR) record this season. He’s now just five wins away from 1,500 lifetime training triumphs. The productive night at the office helped push his lifetime earnings as a trainer to $7,582,225.
