Allen Kaplan, Ira Kaplan and David Sheib’s Lorrie Please improved to three-for-three at Harrington Raceway in 2013 with a wire-to-wire win for driver George Dennis in Tuesday’s $19,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace.
The six-year-old Western Ideal mare who was sent off as the 1-5 favourite, shot to the front from Post 5 and successfully sliced out splits of :27.2, :56.3 and 1:25 before using a :28.2 closing quarter to seal the deal by 1-1/2 lengths over Yagonnakissmeornot in 1:53.2. BJs Sweetheart tagged along to finish third.
Lorrie Please has now banked more than $111,000 this year and recorded her 30th lifetime win. The distaffer is trained by Mike Hall.
