It has been reported that on Monday, June 24, the New Jersey State Assembly passed Bill A-4149 by a vote of 76-0, thus bringing the possibility of pari-mutuel beach racing in Atlantic City one step closer to reality.
The news comes courtesy of a report by John Brennan in The Bergen Record. The bill will now move to the Senate
According to Brennan's report, the beach races would take place on the beach in Atlantic City on Friday, October 11 and Sunday, October 13.
Brennan goes on to explain that the horses would be competing at a distance of three-quarters of a mile. If the initiative comes to fruition, a total of 50 horses would compete in elimination races. After the elims, a field of 10 horses would compete in the American Palio Championship.
