It has been reported that consideration is being given to pari-mutuel horse racing to take place on a beach.
According to a report by the Atlantic City Weekly, it has been proposed that two days of thoroughbred horse racing take place on the beaches of Atlantic City this coming fall.
In order for the races to become a reality, the state would have to sign off on the idea. The New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association would be conducting the two days of racing, which would be backed by the Atlantic City Alliance.
The article explains that New Jersey Assemblymen John Amodeo, John Burzichelli and Ron Dancer have each issued their support for the bill which would make the races a reality.
A field of 10 horses would be determined after a handful of qualifying races. The final race would be called the American Palio.
