Woodmere Rollnpop certainly rolled and popped to win the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Grand River Raceway on Monday, June 24, moving from third position after the quarter and controlling the timer for the remainder of the mile en route to victory.
Travis Henry and the Garry Merner student left from the rail, getting away third as Boston Bound (Jason Ryan) set the opening mark with a :26.1 quarter. After that split, Woodmere Rollnpop popped from third and swept to the lead, notching the half in :54.3. The Merner gelding kept on rolling through the three-quarters in 1:23.2. Boston Bound was his biggest foe turning for home, but Woodmere Rollnpop continued on to win by a half length in 1:52.1. Arties Ideal (Samuel Fillion) completed the triactor.
Andrea Leon owns the Rollwithitharry-Shadow Dancer seven-year-old, who picked up his third straight win and seventh tally of the season from 16 starts. In 131 career starts, Woodmere Rollnpop won for the 31st time, moving his lifetime sum to $183,202. He paid $4.60 to win.
