Brown Wins Half Of Kawartha Card

Kawartha Downs' leading reinsman Gord Brown continued his dominance in the driver's seat at the Fraserville, Ontario five-eighths mile oval on Saturday winning half of the evening's 10 races.

Brown earned his first victory on the card in the third race aboard Joshua My Boy ($3.60) for rookie trainer Melanie Lemoine. He later scored a natural hat trick winning races six through eight with the streaking Pondo Ruba ($3.40) for trainer Wayne Adams, Go Smarty Band ($10.70) for Laura Winacott, and Whitesand Merlot ($20.70) for conditioner James Kay. Mark Winacott trainee Honey Of A Deal ($4.70) posted back-to-back wins to give Brown his fifth victory in the finale.

Brown pushed his seasonal win total to 112 while his career record climbed to 3,623. The Brighton resident is en route to his eighth consecutive million-dollar-plus season.
