Bill Murray, deputy director and general counsel of the New York Lottery, told gaming leaders in Saratoga Springs, New York yesterday that the state’s seven harness track racinos and one at Finger Lakes will be able to introduce electronic table games, including roulette, baccarat and craps, next year.
Murray said that after the state senate had approved that move 54-8, the assembly did not act on it before adjourning, but the lottery feels it was on solid ground moving forward.
He said the electronic table games are the same as VLTs, and no further approval is needed. Each track would have the option of expanding their gaming facilities, or replacing their present VLTs with the new electronic games, Murray said.
Lost in the adjournment of the assembly was an expansion of hours that would have allowed some racinos to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
