Beyond Kronos won the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Trot wire-to-wire in 1:55.3 at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening (June 23).
Beyond Kronos went to the gate with 6-1 odds and set out for the lead against early challenger Cheque The Magic (Ted McDonald). Once he gained control of the front, Marie-Claude Auger and Beyond Kronos led the field uncontested through fractions of :27.4, :57.3, and 1:26.1 before fending off the favourite, Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd), for a 1:55.3 victory. Raising Rusty with Stephane Pouliot in tow followed in third.
Sam Sergi trains and co-owns the five-year-old horse by Muscle Hill, out of the Conway Hall mare Oyster Kronos, with Michael Sergi. Beyond Kronos won his second race from nine starts this season and his ninth from 52 overall while boosting his career earnings to $229,546. He paid $13.50 to win.
Delicate Sound, also with Marie-Claude Auger at the controls, wrapped up the evening’s card with a win in the tenth race. The win made five in a row and fifth lifetime in seven starts for the three-year-old gelding trained by Marc-Andre Simoneau for owner Aurel Harvey Et Fils. A new lifetime mark was recorded for the colt in this start in 1:56. His other two career starts did not miss the board either with a second and third on record.
