Three-year-old pacing fillies sparred in a set of $105,000 OSS Gold Series divisions Monday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, with Sudoku and My Secret Belle winning their respective assignments.

Sudoku was next-to-last at the half-mile marker, but she kicked home gamely to win by a length in 1:53.3 for driver James MacDonald and trainer Tony O’Sullivan. Truth Is Big and race favourite Lady Shadow took turns on the lead through fractions of :27, :56.1 and 1:25, but neither could match the late power of Sudoku. Lady Shadow held on for the runner-up award, while Brookdale Shadow took home third prize.

The three-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Mind Boggling is a homebred owned by Let It Ride Stables, Mentally Stable Inc, Dana Parham and Howard Taylor. The partnership has watched the talented lass put together a 3-for-8 record in her career while banking $218,963 along the way.

My Secret Belle made multiples moves in the second division before posting a 1:53.1 victory for owner/breeder/trainer/driver Joe Hudon. The three-year-old Mach Three-Kindly Jenna miss was hustled off the gate to gain the two-hole position while Jokes Jet fired to the front and supplied the field with a first quarter clocked in :26.4. Race favourite Alibi Seelster brushed to the front in the backstretch and led through middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:24.4. My Secret Belle rallied off the rail in the lane and used a :27.3 closing panel to win by a length over Jakardez. Sectionline Aqua held on for third after doing the first-over work.

It was the fourth win of the season for My Secret Belle, who more than doubled her lifetime earnings with the victory. The $52,500 payday boosted her cash stash to $99,848.
