If you bet the tandem of driver Brad Forward and trainer Gary Mc Donald over the course of Sunday evening’s 12-race card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, there’s a good chance you walked away with pockets full of cash.
Forward managed to find his way to victory lane five times, and three of those wins were behind horses trained by Mc Donald.
Maxabillion, who is trained by Larry Zebedee and was driven by Forward, kicked off the program with a win. The five-year-old son of Million Dollar Cam used off-the-pace tactics to win in 1:53.3.
The Mc Donald and Forward show started in Race 4 thanks to Summerhill Charles’ two-length tally in 1:57.2. The dynamic duo also captured Race 6 with Knee Slapper in 1:56.1 followed by a triumph in Race 10 with Knockout Artist in 1:54.1.
Forward nabbed his fifth – and final – win in Race 11 with the Gilles Viau-trained Taurus Quick Two. The five-year-old son of Taurus Dream froze the teletimer in 1:57.2.
Quickly closing in on the $25 million mark in lifetime purse earnings, Forward sits with 105 wins so far this season and 4,136 over the course of his career.
As for Mc Donald, the three-win performance gives him 45 winners so far this season along with purse earnings of just over $190,000. He’s won 708 races to date while racking up close to $4 million in earnings.
