Track On 2 Conducts First Full Card

After its first attempt at a full card was washed out by strong thunderstorms, The Track on 2 returned to complete its first full card of racing on Sunday (June 21).

A $4,900 Classified 1 Pace highlighted the seven-race program, with I Ama Rocket dashing to a 1:56.1 victory in the feature.

Baylor Out cleared control from the outermost post in the field of seven, leading 9-5 favourite Silent Rescue following an opening quarter in :27.4. He continued uncontested on the lead through fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.1 before turning into the stretch with a length-and-a-half advantage. Though his lead quickly slimmed as Silent Rescue popped pocket with Classy Artist closing along with I Ama Rocket closing quickest. Heading to the finish I Ama Rocket slid to the lead, besting Silent Rescue by one-and-a-half lengths with Classy Artist settling for third.

A four-year-old gelding by Custard The Dragon, I Ama Rocket won his second race from nine starts this season and his eighth from 39 overall, earning $86,648. Nate Sobey drove the $12.90 winner for owners J J J Stable and Jim Marino. The victory also gave conditioner Michael Campbell his first training win.
