Rookie trotters were on display for the first time under the lights during Tuesday’s card at Mohawk Racetrack, and in the battle of the boys versus the girls it was the filly Sweet Of My Heart prevailing.

A homebred daughter of Angus Hall-Sweetheart K, Sweet Of My Heart was treated to a two-hole trip by Chris Christoforou in the $14,000 co-ed event. Reach The Peak shot to the top and sliced out fractions of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:29.3, but Sweet Of My Heart’s :28.2 closing quarter propelled her to the two-length triumph over Hope Ima Victory in 1:58.2. Reach The Peak settled for third prize.

Paul Reid trains the rookie for owner/breeder Robert Key of Leechburg, PA. The youngster is a full sister to the multiple stakes-winning filly, Sweetie Hearts (1:54.3 - $408,235).
