Three horses battled tooth and nail for top honours in Tuesday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Georgian Downs, and when the dust settled it was Call Me Richard coming out on top for the third straight week.
J Harris utilized come-from-behind tactics to notch the victory with Call Me Richard, who is in the midst of a very productive month for trainer Clare Bradshaw.
The four-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Olympic Dreams got away next-to-last in the six-horse affair while Doubledown Gass shot to the top and served up fractions of :27.1, :56.4 and 1:26. Call Me Richard grabbed cover late and then used a :29.4 closing panel to win by a head over Delcrest Massy and Doubledown Gass. Time for the mile was 1:56.1.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite, Call Me Richard improved this year’s record to 4-3-3 from 10 starts for Princeton Farms Inc of Scotland, Ont. The 10-time winner bumped his career earnings to $112,375 with the win.
