
After a successful pocket trip and front-end effort in this month's first two $17,808 Fillies & Mares Winners Over pacing events at Tioga Downs, Fox Valley Leah had to come from last to score the hat trick on Friday, June 20 for trainer/driver Todd Warren.
P L Princess C (Jeff Long) went straight to the front and led the field of five through fractions of :27.1, :56.3 and 1:24 with Quarrel (Mike Merton) challenging first-over down the backstretch. Meanwhile, Fox Valley Leah watched from the back of the pack and was still trailing at the top of the stretch but came flying down the lane to pass them all in 1:52.2. She bested P L Princess C by a quarter of a length with Quarrel nearly two lengths behind in third.
Warren shares ownership of Fox Valley Leah with Lester Peters of Beecher, Illinois, A five-year-old mare by Somestarsomewhere out of Heavens Bettorhalf, Fox Valley Leah is now five-for-seven on the season and has 22 wins overall from 39 starts for a bankroll topping $260,000.
