Pemberton Powers To Impressive Score

After a near miss in last week’s assignment, Pemberton returned to Woodbine Mohawk Park in the $22,000 featured trot and rallied to an impressive triumph in 1:52.2.

Pemberton, with trainer Paul Walker at the helm, got away eighth and watched as Walkonthemoon made multiple early moves to lead through fractions of :26.4, :56.3 and 1:24.4. Walker tipped wide at the three-quarter pole with Pemberton, who then used a :26.2 closing quarter to sweep from seventh to first in the featured affair. He drew clear to win by 3-1/4 lengths over Esplosione. Walkonthemoon was third.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the six-year-old son of Wheeling N Dealin-Dayshifter won for the 10th time in his career for owners/breeders Brenda Walker and Christine Walker. The $11,000 payday pushed his lifetime earnings to $419,059.
