Sebastian K continued his perfect North American campaign as he cruised to an effortless 1:50.3 triumph in Friday's $50,000 leg of the TVG Free For All Trot Series at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Trained and driven by Ake Svanstedt, Sebastian K fired off the gate from post five and carved out fractions of :27.3, :56 and 1:24.1 before opening up a pair of lengths on top under no urging in a :26.2 final quarter. Archangel and Yannick Gingras followed from the pocket to place while Market Share and Tim Tetrick advanced first over at the half to show.
Sent postward as the heavy 3-5 favourite after sweeping the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial with back-to-back 1:50.1 and 1:50.2 miles in May, Sebastian K paid $3.20 to win.
"I think he's better when he has a couple of weeks between races," said Svanstedt of the time off.
The Swedish horseman said that he would be aiming to break the 1:50.1 world record with the eight-year-old son of Korean-Gabriella K, who is owned and bred by Knutsson Trotting Inc.
"He's in very good form so it's possible," said Svanstedt.
Sebastian K's last three wins are the three fastest consecutive trotting miles in harness racing history.
The trotting titan is expected to race next weekend in the $100,000 Mohegan Sun Invitational Trot at Pocono Downs.
