More Baby Races At The Big M

A full slate of 19 two-year-old baby races were held on Saturday at the Meadowlands Racetrack with Im Gorgeous turning in the fastest performance of the day over a track rated good

.

Driven by Mark Mayes, Im Gorgeous, who sat fourth for most of the mile, made his move at the third-quarter pole and used a :27.1 final frame to win in 1:55 flat by a length and a quarter over Rockin Ray, a son of Rocknroll Hanover. Im Gorgeous, by Bettors Delight out of Joy, knocked three seconds off last week’s mile for trainer George Teague, Jr., who also co-owns with Elmer Fannin of Lincoln, Delaware.

Smooth Power was the fastest trotter winning in 1:58.1 by a half-length over the Sjs Caviar colt Hard Livin (Jimmy Takter) after making a quarter-pole move in rein to David Miller. The Andover Hall-Spunomi colt is trained by Steve Elliott for David Scharf of New York, New York and Robert Rosenheim of Sharon, Connecticut.
